There are not many reasons to leave Aspen, ever, but sometimes the climbing bug can bite and lack of warm rocks entices one to get out and explore.  My best climbing buddy and the love of my life suggested we go to our favorite bouldering spot, Mt. Sanitas, down in Boulder.  So off we went on another adventure.
 
In the middle of Boulder, just off the main streets, a wee mountain made especially for bouldering springs from the ground for all to enjoy.
 
I think Sanitas in Spanish means stair master, at least that's what it feels like on the way up.  A good tip if you are going to Sanitas, try to remember to bring a partner that will motivate you to at least get up the trail or will fireman carry you up.
 
At the top, your energy comes back swiftly at first sight of the myriad bouldering routes and sends you scrambling to lace up.
 
Most routes are long traverses up to 100 feet while only one to two feet off the ground, so everyone of all levels will feel comfortable and challenged.
 
Don't forget to look around at the top of Sanitas; the views are worth more than water in a desert.
 
As the day melted, we climbed higher chasing the warmth and the sunset.  Here is a beautiful traverse climb of a 75 foot wall.  (I'm talking about the wall, not me.)
 
Be sure to stay on the trails; the wildlife is ferocious.
 
There were many routes that we did not have time for.  Here is another example of a gorgeous wall.
 

Every adventure has to come to an end and we all eventually have to come back home. Just try to make home a place you really want to come back to.
