At the
end of February, I went
on my second trip to
Mexico this year.
Unexpectedly (after
booking our annual trip
to Troncones), my
brother and two of his
friends learned they had
won a silent auction for
a week's stay at a home
in Sayulita, Nayarit.
My brothers, Bryan and
Kevin, my sister-in-law,
Julie, and friends, Coy,
Eric, and Mike, all
ventured south for a
week of sun and surfing. |

Mike, Kevin,
Bryan, and Coy pose

check out our
restaurant options. |

Bryan squeezes limes
for the happy hour
margaritas.
Julie was our
guacamole master,
creating the perfect
balance between
avocadoes, garlic,
and lime juice. |

Sayulita is a
north-facing beach,
and it always felt
strange when the sun
didn't set into the
ocean. |

Bryan practices his
surf moves on land
after being called
Monkey Boy one too
many times (he tends
to let his arms
dangle at the elbow
when surfing). |

Here I am surprised
to be standing up. |

Actually every time
I managed to stand
up and not promptly
fall down felt like
a victory.
Bryan had the skills
to turn his surf
board, and he made
it his mission to
turn toward me and
take me down.
Thankfully, he was
rarely successful. |

After a strenuous
day of surfing and
playing beach
volleyball, Kevin
digs into an Aztec
Bowl at the Sayulita
Cafe, one of our
favorite dinner
spots. |
