Maroon Bells Scenic Area Information
Starting in 2020, the US Forest service has implemented a reservation system for the Maroon Bells Scenic Area.
Key points:
Reservations are required to park at the Day Use Area and Overnight Lot beginning June 8.
RFTA shuttle service begins on June 28. Buses will run from 8-5- reservations are required to take the bus from Aspen Highlands.
Reservations are required to park at the Day Use Area before the buses run in the morning and after they stop in the evenings.
Maroon Creek Road opens on Monday, June 8.

Key points:
Conundrum Hot Springs is the only area in Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness that requires an advance permit for overnight camping. For all other overnight trips in the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness visitors are required to self-register at trailhead.
Bear canisters or UrSacks are required for all overnight visitors in the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness. No exceptions!
Human waste is an ongoing issue. The Forest Service recommends WAG bags (not required). If no WAG bag, visitors must bury human waste in 6-8” cathole. The Forest Service recommends packing out toilet paper.
