Water filters and purifiers are a staple of any good outdoor kit. Now that the snow is melting out in a hurry, we are venturing further into the mountains and have found a new favorite purifier.
The GRAYL - GEOPRESS is an incredibly simple and impressive water purifier. It will purify 24oz of water in eight seconds! It offers protection from global waterborne pathogens (virus, bacteria, protozoan cysts), pesticides, chemicals, heavy metals, and even microplastics!
The operation is a basic three step process.
Whether you are taking a stroll through town, traveling abroad with questionable water sources, or backpacking the Four Pass Loop - you will love this purifier!
Inspired by origami, the Japanese art of paper folding, Fozzil’s dishware and bowls are another simple, but surprisingly helpful design. These dishes, bowls, and cups lay completely flat and thin when not in use. They then snap into shape when needed to hold your precious food and trail meals. The ability to flatten out each item also makes them a dream for space efficient packing and cleaning.
With a dish, bowl, and cup set weighing in at a mere 4oz in the ‘Snapfold’ versions, Fozzils are also some of the lightest backpacking dishware you’ll find. The ‘Snapstakz’ versions shown above are only slightly heavier and offer more stability and durability - perfect for car camping and even home use.
The world of coffee can be incredibly complex and nuanced - we won’t pretend to be experts. We do however love a great cup of coffee and have always heard from those in the know that the Aerobie - Aeropress is arguably the best cost-to-quality ratio coffee maker out there. If you need anymore proof of how serious this device is taken, you should know baristas gather from around the world to compete in the annual World AeroPress Championship.
Without any major changes since the original design debuted in 2005 the Aeropress was due for some tweaks. The AeroPress Go is an evolution of the still available AeroPress, mostly focusing on better packing and updated accessories. Significant changes include a container case that doubles as a mug, a compacting stir stick, a smaller filter holder, and overall a much more compact kit.
The versatility of this coffee maker cannot be understated. It’s an obvious choice for backpacking and car camping, but don’t be surprised if it becomes your go to coffee maker at home!
As always - we invite you to get a hands on look at these and all our gear recommendations in the store. Come by with your questions, curiosities, and coffee making secrets!
